HGH Doses For Men

The dosage of HGH to elicit best results is comparatively lesser in men than in women. A study was conducted by Dr. Rudman and his colleagues on men in the age bracket of 61 to 81 years. In the clinical study, the volunteers were administered the human growth hormone with a dosage of 0.03mg/kg of body weight, given as subcutaneous injections, three times a week. This therapy, conducted for 6 months could trigger about fourteen percent of reduction in fat mass, eight percent increase in lean body mass, seven percent increase in thickness of skin and a little more than one percent increase in bone strength. Dr. Rudman states that with the advent of the growth hormone replacement therapy, one can turn back 10 years of age and repeal the signs of aging, after undergoing one year of treatment.
However, experts say, high doses of the bio-synthetic growth hormone taken as replacement therapy is not recommendable, unless prescribed specifically by the physician. High doses, especially for prolonged periods of time, can result in adverse complications such as - diabetes or prostate cancer.
In another study conducted by Healy M. L and his colleagues, males in the age bracket of 18 to 40 years were administered the growth hormone, in a dose of 0.067 mg/ kg of body weight/ day. This research was performed to observe the kinetics of the body protein, - in the resting condition, during workouts and after workouts, only after administering the hormone doses. The hormone was injected subcutaneously every night for four weeks. After the fourth week, Leucine oxidation was considerably reduced, and this is a sign of anabolism (building ) of proteins.
Horber and Haymond in their research study on non-exercising males have shown that there was no catabolism (break-down) of proteins, but synthesis of proteins and the development of body occurred after the administration of the recombinant HGH for 1 week at a dosage of 0.1mg/kg/day.
In another study by Yaresheski and his colleagues, HGH at a dose of 0.04 mg/kg/day was administered for 12 weeks to non-exercising male volunteers. This resulted in the enhancement of lean muscle mass and synthesis of proteins, though not very conspicuous. The same low dosage when given to well trained athletes, failed to show any favorable changes in their body, even after administering the hormone for 2 weeks.
These studies conclude that, a low dosage can stimulate good effects in untrained males, but, well trained athletes and body builders require a much larger dose of the hormone.
