Normal levels or proper dosage of the therapy can improve diabetes, while high levels of HGH or IGF-1 is known to enhance diabetes. Like in the case of athletes and bodybuilders who use high doses of this hormone, are at a risk of developing diabetes. This is because of some negative effects that the hormone exerts on insulin secretion. This hormone stimulates IGF-1 secretion. High levels of IGF-1 will decrease the absorption of glucose by the body cells, as well as the metabolism of glucose in liver.
