A useful guide on "Building Neck Muscle". The neck is perhaps the most neglected part of the human body when it comes to muscle building. In a recent survey, it was found that an attractive neck is a major turn-on for both men and women. Therefore all those people who are on a body building stint should focus on building neck muscles as well. Exercises for building neck muscles are pretty simple and do not consume a lot of time. A lot of people suffer from neck pains and spondylitis which are often curable with the various exercises that are meant to strengthen the neck muscle. A lot of physical educationists would suggest you to swim a lot in order to develop the muscles of the neck. However swimming is not the only exercises that can prove to be helpful. Some of the exercises for strengthening neck muscles are: Exercise One Lie down on a flat bench with your face facing the floor. Make sure that you neck hangs from the edge of the bench. Hold a weight plate behind your head using both your hands. Gradually lower your head as much as you can. Then again bring your head back to the original position slowly. Make these gradual nods at least 10 to 11 times. Exercise Two Bring your hands together and place the fingers of one hand between the gaps between the fingers of the other hand. Place your hands on your forehead. Try to bend your neck down such that you chin touches the chest but keep applying resistance to this movement using your hands. Bring the neck back to the original position. Repeat this process five to six times in a row. Exercise Three Bring your hands together and place the fingers one hand between the spaces between the fingers of other hand. Place your hands behind your head and start pushing. Bend your head backwards while applying force using your hands. Bring your neck and head back to the original position. Repeat the process five to six times. Exercise Four Place you hand on the right side of your head. Tilt your neck in the right direction while applying force using your hand. Bring your head back to the original position. Repeat the exercise four to five times. Repeat the same exercise in the other direction by placing your hand on the left side of your head. The above mentioned exercises provide proper work-out to the sterno-mastoid muscles in your neck. Maintaining regularity with your exercising sessions would help you develop strong neck muscles in a short span of time. Push-ups and other exercises that you perform to better your biceps also help a lot in developing the neck muscles. Alternatively, the neck is worked out quite a bit with the use of trapezius exercises such as shoulder shrugs. |
