A useful guide on "Muscle Building Supplements". They are found everywhere in varying combinations and labels and are often touted as miracle workers in body building. They can be found in drug stores, health food stores and supermarkets. They are muscle building supplements, sometimes known as dietary supplements. In times past they largely included just minerals and vitamins but today have increased to encompass a larger number of substances such as hormones, amino acids, herbs and others. Americans are always conscious about how they look and there are some stereotypes that we are recommended to look like. What man wouldn’t like to have a nice set of six packs, well cut pecs and well built triceps and biceps? A lot of women also appreciate a well built muscular man and this alone is often enough motivation for even the most lazy of men. With all the hoopla about having a well built body, it’s no surprise that there’s a lot of demand for muscle supplements. What are Muscle Building Supplements? Basically, muscle enhancing supplements are substances that are taken to tone or strengthen the body muscles. Of course these supplements are quite helpful in achieving well built muscles but there’s a need to apply some caution. The truth is that these supplements don’t work overnight. If you are considering getting muscle toning supplements because you desire to look like Hulk Hogan in a week, then you need to have a rethink. The truth is that muscle building supplements play a complementary role in enhancing the muscles. Thus, they work best with a program that involves exercising regularly, eating well balanced food, and sleeping well. Protein Supplements There are several supplements that can be taken to enhance muscle building but the most commonly used ones are protein supplements and these will be focused on. Protein supplements are food products or sources of protein that are used in helping sports people and body builders achieve their required levels of protein intake. Protein is very vital to the growth and functioning of the muscles which makes protein supplements quite important. Generally, they contain between 20g to 30g of protein per portion and usually contain minerals and vitamins. Types of Protein Supplements Protein powders: there are different types of protein powders and they all accomplish different goals. Protein powders basically contain just protein with few carbohydrates or fat. Some of the popular types include whey protein, soy protein and egg protein. Protein bars: just like chocolate bars but contain basically proteins for body builders who are on the run. Weight gainers: these help in building muscle mass and creating new muscle tissue especially when just starting out. These are usually high in both proteins and carbohydrates. Other Supplements The next supplement that is probably the most widely used body building supplement next to protein is creatine. Creatine is used to provide the muscles with more energy which in turns leads to a more intensive workout. It is a natural product which is mostly found in red meats and as such cannot cause any harm. There are other supplements available which can do wonders for those on a heavy training regime but they need to be researched in more detail due to their nature. These include amino acids, glutamine and testosterone boosters to name a few. |
